DFD # 13I1S
The project studied feasibility to construct a new three-story 75,000 ASF/ 139,000 GSF building on the Lot 62 site just north of the existing School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) between Observatory and Linden Drives with expanded space for the small animal clinic at the ground level of the building. The new building would include on-grade connectors to the existing clinic at the east and west ends and a combined and improved entry for small animals. The upper levels include offices and conference and interaction spaces at the second floor west wing, research labs on the second floor east wing, and new BSL-3/ABSL-3/BSL-2 labs at the third floor east wing. The building is staggered in height such that there is no third floor at the west wing. The project also includes targeted renewal of 38,000 GSF within the existing SVM.
A project to construct a parking ramp on the east end of Lot 62 would replace the surface parking lot slated to be lost as part of the SVM expansion project.
